Hugging Face is the largest open source community for machine learning and artificial intelligence in the world. NVIDIA is acquiring them. It’s not surprising following the recent attack on Hugging Face systems by OpenAI agents. Running open communities is hard. And “open” is not the only goal. “Functional” and “safe” are also goals.
The world is watching to see how things go and to help ensure the continued success of open communities worldwide. Success won’t be only up to them; it will be up to all of us, and how we guide their thinking. If you have guidance, speak up, somehow, somewhere.
